Idyllic planes of Vojvodina

As the Danube enters Serbia at the Northern Province of Vojvodina it crosses trough a thick ancient forest. At this point it is a distance of 1,433 Km from the Sulina channel. Its entry is a charming yet enigmatic beginning to a truly Serbian river adventure.

The Danube takes you to Apatin, a town well known for its freshwater fish specialties, and for its beer – brewed ever since 1756. We recommend that you try the famous fish stew with catfish and home made noodles.

Sombor, a town only 16 Km form Apatin, boats a rich cultural heritage, green areas, as weak as Baroque facades, and is considered to be the city of artists and famous tambutza players.

Backa Palanka is reputed for its fishing and hunting. In its vicinity is Karadjordjevo, a special nature preserve famous for its horse farm – among the larger in Europe – as well for its fishing and great variety of bird species.

Dundjerski castle, near Celarevo and 14 Km from Backa Palanka, is anther interesting sight to see, as it is a masterpiece of 18th and 19th century architecture.
